A Message from Mike Bryant the owner and founder, CPS.

I have spent the passed 15 years in banking, real estate and mortgage brokerage. I am currently the owner of my own mortgage brokerage company and an active, licensed, NC real estate broker. I am fully licensed, insured and bonded, thus qualified to make certain professional opinions regarding the following credit issues.

Personal credit, credit reports and credit scores have quickly become the central framework of credit extension to consumers for home mortgages, bank loans and virtually all aspects of borrowing and approval in leasing apartments or other items. Automation and internet have made obtaining and evaluating credit underwriting so readily accessible that many new problems are now arising through technology.

I have designed this Program to protect our client's credit rating by deterring Credit Fraud and Identity Theft before it occurs. Most often these crimes begin by the wrong party acquiring a copy of your credit report information either by false pretence or other forms of electronic theft. CPS is preparing for millions of US citizens to sign up in the next few years. Deterrence and early detection are your best course of action.

Credit errors, credit fraud, identity theft along with recovery and correction, not to mention monetary and financial loss, are now plaguing consumers at an alarming rate. At the same time, credit requirements are becoming more sensitive to errors and credit score requirements are a determining factor for placement of new credit accounts in every lending sector. Errors or fraud on credit, seriously damage and decrease credit score / ratings and can require extensive time and expense to correct and regain credit levels, meanwhile the consumer is put on hold with regards to acquiring new credit. This could mean problems buying a home, car or obtaining a seriously needed loan. Often loans obtained with lower credit ratings and unresolved errors (even though in dispute) can result in higher rates and fees (sub-prime). Further, these consumers caught in a position of having to obtain financing will be forced to take lesser quality financing at higher rates and fees. They could then often incur additional expense and time in replacing these temporary, sub-prime loans at lower rates and fees once the credit rating has recovered (which can take years).

Credit has become an entirely new arena for theft, which until recently was better safeguarded through person to person transactions or non-automated services. New, fully automated programs have opened a huge hole in accessing personal credit, financial records and confidential information by hackers, which the law is having difficulty in policing and recovering. Consumers, businesses and financial institutions are incurring massive losses which will add up in the billions of dollars in the next few years. In February 2003 one unknown hacker compromised over 8 million credit cards ( VISA, Master Card and AMEX) at one processing center in less than an hour. This type activity leaves everyone vulnerable to cyber-crimes.

Security and deterrence are the best methods of action in credit fraud and identity theft protection, soon to be a multi billion dollar industry. Credit theft is estimated to cost from 5-10 billion U.S. dollars to consumers, banks and businesses by 2005 and could affect up to 5-10 million consumers in the U.S. alone. Virtually overnight this field has become a new area of alert within the security sector. This is one of the largest areas of increased growth in organized crime since the millennium. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) branch of the Federal Government is making an aggressive effort to combat this modern crime waive however the policing efforts stand little chance of keeping up with the increased occurrences, prosecution and loss recovery. Most funds are channeled for beyond the reach of recovery and most hackers and criminals are virtually invisible.

I believe it is up to each consumer to protect their own credit reports and credit ratings by self management. The choices are simple: risk becoming a victim, deal with the losses and corrective process if you become a victim or start taking safeguards now. The cost for the CPS program is modest and is hardly anything compared with the other options. ($9.95 per month for individuals or $14.95 per month for married couples).
